President Bola Tinubu left King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for Abuja on Wednesday after completing his Umrah pilgrimage. The departure was confirmed by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who stated that Tinubu’s plane took off from the Royal Terminal of the airport. The move comes after Tinubu concluded his visit to the Holy city of Makkah, a religious journey commonly undertaken by Muslims.
Tinubu’s visit to Saudi Arabia was part of his religious obligations, with reports indicating he held a brief meeting with the Deputy Governor of Makkah at the Royal Guest Palace within the airport before departing. The trip was described as a successful completion of his Umrah, a form of pilgrimage considered less rigorous than the Hajj.
This is not the first time Tinubu has traveled to Saudi Arabia for religious purposes. In previous years, he has made similar trips to fulfill his religious duties. The timing of the visit aligns with the Islamic calendar, as Umrah is typically performed during specific months.
Tinubu’s return to Nigeria marks the conclusion of a short but significant trip, highlighting his continued engagement with religious and state affairs. The pilgrimage underscores the importance of faith in his public life, while also reinforcing his role as a leader who balances political and spiritual responsibilities.
