National Pension Commission (PenCom) Director General, Ms Omolola Oloworaran, announced that the commission will launch a healthcare program for retirees in November. The initiative aims to enhance the welfare of retired citizens by providing them with access to medical services. The program will be rolled out in phases, with the first phase targeting retirees in Abuja.
The healthcare support is part of PenCom’s broader strategy to improve the quality of life for retirees. According to Oloworaran, the program will include regular health check-ups, subsidized medical treatments, and emergency care. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of retirees across the country, with Abuja serving as the pilot city.
PenCom has been working on improving pension benefits for retirees in recent years. The new healthcare program follows previous efforts to increase pension payouts and improve access to social services. The commission has also partnered with local hospitals to ensure the program’s success. The launch of the healthcare program is seen as a significant step toward better retirement security in Nigeria.
