The National Economic Council (NEC) approved a 90-day economic action plan aimed at reducing the cost of living for Nigerians. The decision came after a monthly meeting held in Abuja. The plan includes measures to stabilize prices and improve access to essential goods.
The NEC reviewed the country’s response to the Ebola outbreak and emphasized the need for states to enhance their preparedness. The council also tasked state governments with implementing specific economic interventions. These include subsidies for basic commodities and increased public spending on infrastructure.
This initiative follows months of rising inflation and economic instability. The NEC has previously introduced emergency measures to address currency devaluation and fuel shortages. The new plan aims to provide immediate relief while laying the groundwork for long-term economic recovery. The council will monitor the plan’s progress and may extend it if necessary.
