Ekiti State has been selected as one of the first states in Nigeria to pilot a digital addressing system, a project aimed at improving public service delivery through technology. The initiative, launched in Ado Ekiti, the state’s capital, is part of a broader national effort to modernize administrative processes.

The project, led by the state’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, involves the integration of geographic data with digital infrastructure to enhance efficiency in areas such as healthcare, education, and emergency response. Officials in Ado Ekiti have emphasized the role of the state’s strong educational foundation in making it a suitable candidate for the pilot.

Ekiti has long been recognized for its educational institutions and has consistently ranked among the top states in Nigeria’s academic performance. The digital addressing system is expected to build on this legacy by leveraging technology to improve governance. The pilot phase is set to run for six months, with plans to expand the program to other states if successful.

The initiative follows a growing push across Nigeria to adopt digital solutions for public administration. Previous efforts have focused on improving access to government services, reducing bureaucratic delays, and increasing transparency. Ekiti’s participation marks a significant step in the country’s digital transformation strategy.
