EDC has launched a continent-wide conference aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Africa. The event, which runs from July 15 to July 18, 2026, will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, and will feature over 500 participants from 15 African countries. The conference is designed to provide entrepreneurs with access to funding, mentorship, and market opportunities.

The event includes workshops on digital transformation, financial literacy, and sustainable business practices. EDC, a leading economic development organization, has partnered with local business associations to ensure the conference addresses the specific needs of African SMEs. According to EDC, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to stimulate economic growth and job creation across the continent.

This marks the first time EDC has organized a pan-African SME conference. Previous events were limited to specific regions, but the new format aims to create a more inclusive platform for entrepreneurs. The conference follows a series of regional business summits held in 2025, which saw increased participation from startups and established businesses. EDC hopes the event will lead to long-term partnerships and investment opportunities for African SMEs.
