The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arraigned four Nigerians and two Mexican nationals over their alleged involvement in a methamphetamine laboratory in Tapa village, Oyo State. The six suspects were brought before Justice Nkeonye Evelyn Maha for further legal proceedings.
The case involves the operation of a clandestine meth lab in Tapa village, Ibarapa North Local Government Area. The suspects are accused of establishing and running the lab, which produced illegal drugs. The NDLEA alleges that the operation was part of a larger drug trafficking network.
This is not the first time the NDLEA has targeted cross-border drug trafficking. Previous operations have led to the arrest of individuals involved in the production and distribution of narcotics. The agency has been increasing its efforts to combat drug-related crimes, particularly in regions known for illicit drug production.
The legal process will continue with the suspects being remanded in custody until their trial, scheduled for January. The case highlights the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking in Nigeria and the role of foreign nationals in such operations.
