The Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics has raised concerns over the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) N11.2tn federation receivables. The group has demanded a breakdown of advances, security costs, and petrol price support.
The alliance also requested a public ledger for dividends, taxes, and other financial obligations. The request was made in Abuja, where the group emphasized the need for transparency in the NNPC’s financial dealings.
This follows recent calls for greater accountability in the oil sector. The NNPC has been under scrutiny for its financial management, with critics pointing to delays in dividend payments and unclear expenditure reports. The alliance’s demand comes amid growing public pressure for more open governance in the energy sector.
The NNPC has not yet responded to the alliance’s request. However, the move highlights ongoing efforts to improve fiscal transparency in Nigeria’s oil industry. The debate over NNPC’s financial practices continues to be a key issue in economic policy discussions.
