Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has announced a political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. The alliance was revealed during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Rainbow Coalition in Abuja.
Wike declared himself the self-field commander for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. He emphasized the need for unity among political parties to ensure Tinubu’s victory. The move comes as Tinubu seeks to extend his tenure beyond the current presidential term.
The PDP and APC, two major political parties in Nigeria, have agreed to coordinate their efforts in the FCT. This collaboration is seen as a significant step toward consolidating support for Tinubu’s re-election. Wike stated that the alliance would focus on mobilizing resources and voters in the capital territory.
This political alliance marks a rare moment of cooperation between rival parties. It reflects the growing importance of the FCT in national politics and the strategic role of key figures like Wike in shaping electoral outcomes. The 2027 election is expected to be a critical test for Tinubu’s administration.
