The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of spreading misinformation regarding the eligibility of Senator Iyabo Obasanjo to contest the 2027 Ogun Central Senatorial election. Hon. Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, PDP’s House of Assembly candidate for Abeokuta South Constituency II, claimed the APC is using political propaganda to undermine Obasanjo’s candidacy.
The dispute centers on whether Obasanjo, a former governor of Ogun State, meets the legal requirements to run for the Senate in 2027. The PDP alleges that the APC has circulated false information to discredit her. The controversy highlights growing tensions between the two major parties ahead of the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, political defections continue to reshape the landscape. In Ondo State, hundreds of PDP members have joined the APC, led by a former governorship aspirant. These developments underscore the shifting alliances and heightened competition in Nigerian politics.
In another development, the PDP in Ebonyi State reported increased grassroots mobilization following the declaration of two APC defectors’ seats as vacant. The party is leveraging these gains to strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 elections.
