The Nigerian Investment and Securities Tribunal (IST) announced plans to digitize its operations as part of a broader effort to enhance transparency and efficiency in the capital market. The move comes amid growing calls for modernization in financial regulation, with the tribunal aiming to streamline processes and improve access for investors.
The digital transformation will include the adoption of new rules designed to strengthen judicial oversight and ensure fair treatment of registered investors. With over 2.2 million investors currently registered, the tribunal emphasized the need for updated systems to handle the increasing volume of cases.
The initiative is expected to reduce bureaucratic delays and increase accountability, aligning Nigeria’s financial institutions with global standards. Officials noted that the shift to digital platforms will also improve accessibility for remote investors, particularly in rural areas.
The changes are part of a larger strategy to promote investor confidence and support economic growth. The IST has not yet provided a timeline for full implementation, but early stages are set to begin in the coming months.
